Economy: Debt and Bankruptcy Management

Financial survival and club credit limits.

Debt management is a critical aspect: Hattrick allows spending even with zero balance, but under strict conditions.

Credit Line and Interest Rates

The bank grants you a credit line of up to 500,000 €. However, as soon as your balance goes into negative numbers, you will have to pay very high interest on this borrowed money.

These costs will appear weekly in your financial update, weighing down your budget for signings or salaries.

Bank Credit Limit -500,000 €
Bidding Limit (200,000 €)

Once your debt reaches 200,000 €, your spending options are drastically limited.

Example: You cannot bid on the market if the sum of the bid plus the salary (paid immediately) pushes you past the -200,000 € limit.
Bankruptcy Threshold (500,000 €)

If the debt reaches 500,000 €, you will receive a bankruptcy warning.

You have two weeks to return the balance to the safety zone.

If you fail to do so, the system will force you to leave Hattrick and you will lose your team.

The "Safety Zone" and Salvation Strategy

The club will not go bankrupt if:

  • It has players for sale with bids sufficient to cover the debt.
  • It has enough money in the board reserves.

Salvation Strategy:

In desperate situations, the only real solution is the urgent sale of players, even starters, to obtain immediate liquidity.

Golden Advice: Maintain a positive bi-weekly balance (balancing the week you play away with the week you play at home) to avoid falling into the pit of interest rates and bankruptcy.
