Stars vs. Ratings
Individual Performance vs. Collective Sector Strength.
Stars: Individual Performance
What they measure: They exclusively indicate how an individual player performed in a specific position and match.
Utility: A useful tool to compare players within your squad in the same position to see who contributes more.
Critical Limitations
They do not measure the team's actual strength or predict the result. The engine completely ignores them when calculating goals.
Invisible data: They do not reflect collective penalties such as central overcrowding.
Ratings: The Engine
What they measure: They are the sum of all players' contributions to each sector of the field (defence, midfield, and attack).
True importance: These are what the Hattrick engine uses to decide what happens every minute.
Precision (Sub-levels)
Ratings are divided into levels and four sub-levels (very low, low, high, and very high). This lets you know if a "solid" is nearly excellent or nearly passable.
Reflect tactics: They show the effects of individual orders, team attitude, and stamina/fatigue.

Strategic Tip
To win, always focus on improving your sector ratings (especially midfield) and ignore the star total, as stars are only a visual representation that can lead to misleading conclusions about your squad's actual strength.
